LeaderZaragoza delivered the fifteenth win on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Avenida (9-8) 76-63 in Salamanca. Zaragoza looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Helena Pueyo (183-2001, college: Arizona) who scored 17 points. French Ornella Bankole (181-1997) chipped in 15 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Four Zaragoza players scored in double figures. International point guard Iyana Martin (172-2006) produced 14 points and American center Khadijiah Cave (190-1995, college: Baylor) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zaragoza (15-1) have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place. Avenida at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Leganes. Zaragoza are looking forward to face Jairis (#4) in Murcia in the next round. Avenida will play on the road against IDK Euskotren in San Sebastian and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
