Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Gijon (9-10) rolled over at home 14th ranked TGN Basquet (2-16) 81-59 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian guard Merissah Russell (183-2002, college: Louisville) who led the winners and scored 25 points. Center Sofia Hamidi (185-2005) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Canadian forward Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu (185, college: Ottawa, agency: DC Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Sara Torruella added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for TGN Basquet in the defeat. Gijon have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Viladecans. TGN Basquet lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Gijon will meet Boet Mataro (#11) in the next round. TGN Basquet will play against the league's second-placed GDKO Bizkaia having rather not much hope for a victory.
