There was a small surprise when sixteenth rankedPalma BM (4-16) won against on the road 14th ranked Cartagena (5-15) 82-66 on Saturday. Palma BM made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Palma BM outrebounded Cartagena 36-21 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Colombian point guard Hansel Atencia (178-1997, college: Master's) notched 19 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Georgian Duda Sanadze (197-1992, college: San Diego, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 17 points. Four Palma BM players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by Brazilian center Vitor Faverani (212-1988) did not help to save the game for Cartagena . American guard Isaiah Rivera (196, college: DePaul) added 16 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Palma BM maintains sixteenth position with 4-16 record. Loser Cartagena keeps the fourteenth place with 15 games lost. Palma BM will meet at home higher ranked Burgos T. (#15) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cartagena will play against Oviedo and hope to secure a win.
