There was no surprise in Barcelona where 12th ranked Almeda (5-15) was edged by ninth ranked Viladecans (10-10) 58-56 on Saturday. Viladecans forced 25 Almeda turnovers. Strangely Almeda outrebounded Viladecans 44-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Abril Torne who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Noa Sanchez (-2001) chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds. Laura Tierno (-1995) produced 12 points and 8 rebounds and Mar Coll-Vinent added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Almeda players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Viladecans moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Mostoles. Loser Almeda keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Arxil and Lleida. Viladecans will meet at home Andratx (#14) in the next round where they are favorite. Almeda will play against GMASB in Granada and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
