Second Stage Round 9: Joventut U22 - Barca U22 72-81

U22 League top team - Barca (21-2) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat eighth ranked Joventut (5-19) in Badalona 81-72. Barca U22 dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Joventut's 24 and made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Barca U22 forced 19 Joventut U22 turnovers and outrebounded them 46-28 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Serbian Nikola Kusturica (202-2009) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Burkinabe power forward Mohamed Dabone (208-2011) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Four Barca players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Diego Niebla (202-2008) who recorded 16 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and forward Ferran Mauri (193-2007) added 19 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Barca. Barca U22 maintains first place with 21-2 record. Joventut U22 lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 19 games lost. Barca U22 will meet at home G.Canaria U22 (#4) in the next round. Joventut U22 will play against Manresa U22 (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
