Very expected game when 8th rankedGetafe (10-13) lost to second ranked Albacete (18-5) in Madrid 67-72 on Saturday. Albacete made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian-Italian guard Silvano Merlo (193-2002) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. American forward Nick Reid (201-2002, college: Upper Iowa) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Albacete players scored in double figures. Nigerian forward Mohammed Abdulsalam (206-1997, college: UNCG, agency: Olsta) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Charlie Henderson (206-2002, college: CSUSB) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Getafe in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Albacete . They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Castello. Loser Getafe dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with La Leonesa.
