Regular Season Round 14: Akhisar Bld - Sakarya BSB 71-68

The most exciting game of round 14 in the TB2L took place in Akhisar. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Sakarya BSB (11-3) to fifth ranked Akhisar Bld (10-4) 71-68 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sakarya BSB. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sakarya BSB won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sakarya BSB 38-27 including 23 on the defensive glass. Point guard Erdem Ilter (188-90, agency: Ali Guney BA) scored 27 points, 7 assists and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and center Hakan Yapar (202-84) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Franklin Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 23 points and 5 assists. Akhisar Bld moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Balikesir. Newly promoted Sakarya BSB dropped to the third position with three games lost. Akhisar Bld is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Mersin (#18) in Akdeniz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sakarya BSB will play at home against Istanbul DSI (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
