Very expected game in Balikesir where 15th ranked Turk Telekom (3-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Banvit BK (9-6) 91-82 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-20. But Turk Telekom won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Banvit BK won last quarter 27-19. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Banvit BK outrebounded Turk Telekom 42-28 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Turk Telekom was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was French Adrien Moerman (202-88) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Slovenian center Gasper Vidmar (211-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Michael Jenkins (193-86, college: Winthrop) who recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Ermal Kuqo (208-80, agency: Beo Basket) added 16 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Banvit BK maintains fourth place with 9-6 record, which they share with Karsiyaka and Darussafaka. Loser Turk Telekom keeps the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Banvit BK will face bottom-ranked Istanbul BSB (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Turk Telekom will play against Demir IBB in Buyukcekmece and hope to win that game.
