Regular Season Round 19: Balikesir - Mamak DSI 88-71

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Mamak DSI (7-12) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Balikesir (12-7) 88-71. Balikesir players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Umit Turkoglu (211-81) accounted for 12 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. American power forward Raymond Sykes (206-86, college: Clemson, agency: Three Eye Sports) came up with 14 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Brandon Peterson (204-90, college: Arkansas St.) added 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for Mamak DSI in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Balikesir. They maintain sixth place with 12-7 record. Mamak DSI at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Balikesir's next round opponent will be higher ranked Gediz (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mamak DSI will play against Final Genclik (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
