Regular Season Round 19: Sakarya BSB - Gediz 93-76

The game between second ranked Gediz (14-5) and fifth ranked Sakarya BSB (13-6) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Gediz was defeated by Sakarya BSB in Sakaraya 93-76. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Gediz. The game was mostly controlled by Sakarya BSB. Gediz managed to win fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Sakarya BSB outrebounded Gediz 35-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. FYR Macedonian-American point guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. American Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Sakarya BSB players scored in double figures. Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sakarya BSB maintains fifth place with 13-6 record. Gediz at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Denizli. Sakarya BSB are looking forward to face Gelisim (#7) in Izmir in the next round. Gediz will play at home against Balikesir (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
