We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Karsiyaka (15-12) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Banvit BK (16-12) 71-64 on Saturday. Karsiyaka was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. French Adrien Moerman (202-88) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American center Jackie Carmichael (206-90, college: Illinois St., agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Bracey Wright (191-84, college: Indiana) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and American-Guinea-Bissau center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Banvit BK moved-up to fifth place. Defending champion Karsiyaka dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Banvit BK will face Besiktas (#10) in Istanbul in the next round where they are favorite. Karsiyaka will play on the road against Demir IBB (#9) in Buyukcekmece and hope to win that game.
