Regular Season Round 7: Acibadem - Akhisar Bld 99-77

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Akhisar Bld (3-4) was outscored by fourteenth ranked Acibadem (3-4) in Istanbul 99-77 on Friday. Acibadem shot 63.9 percent from the field. Acibadem outrebounded Akhisar Bld 31-19 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Sharrod Ford (206-82, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Acibadem players scored in double figures. Acibadem's coach Serhan Aydanarig felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. American forward Tyler Smith (200-86, college: Tennessee) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Leemire Goldwire (184-85, college: Charlotte, agency: HMS) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Akhisar Bld. Acibadem moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Akhisar Bld. Acibadem will face Mamak DSI (#14) in Ankara in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
