Regular Season Round 15: Best Balikesir - Darussafaka 85-86

Fifteenth-ranked Balikesir (2-13) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Darussafaka (11-4) on Sunday. The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only one-point victory 86-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Darussafaka looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Scottie Wilbekin (188-93, college: Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists. Croatian power forward Ante Zizic (210-97, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Darussafaka's coach David Blatt used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American Austin Nichols (200-82, college: Humboldt St.) who recorded 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American-Nigerian Ike Ofoegbu (205-84, college: SMU) added 17 points respectively. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Darussafaka. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Besiktas and Banvit BK. Newly promoted Balikesir keeps the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Darussafaka will meet Tofas (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Balikesir will play against Galatasaray (#7) and hope to secure a win.
