Regular Season Round 21: Gemlik - Bornova 85-81

There was an upset in Bursa where higher ranked Bornova Bld (11-10) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Gemlik (6-15) 85-81 on Saturday. Gemlik made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American center Myles Carter (206-97, college: Seattle) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Maurice Watson (178-93, college: Creighton) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: EMU) who recorded 23 points and point guard Ata Kahraman (192-99) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bornova Bld's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Gemlik maintains fifteenth place with 6-15 record. Bornova Bld lost their third game in a row. Bornova Bld at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Gemlik will face higher ranked Kagitspor (#6) in Izmit in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
