Regular Season Round 11: Izmit - Elazig Il 91-67

There was a small surprise in Kocaeli where seventh ranked Izmit (7-4) outscored 4th placed Elazig Il (7-4) 91-67 on Saturday. Izmit forced 19 Elazig Il turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Elazig Il's players. The best player for the winners was forward Deniz Aygul (186-1995) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Oyku Taskin (172-2000) chipped in 9 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Izmit's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Channon Fluker (193-1997, college: CSUN) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 rebounds and Ilknur Yildizhan (186-1996) added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Elazig Il players scored in double figures. Izmit moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Elazig Il. Izmit will meet Bogazici (#6) in the next round. Elazig Il will play against Emlak 2 and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the KBSL just one year after relegation.
