Regular Season Round 7: Balikesir BBS - Cayirova 92-107

There was no surprise when 16th rankedBalikesir BBS (2-5) was defeated at home by second ranked Cayirova (6-1) 107-92 on Sunday. Cayirova made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Balikesir BBS turnovers. Cayirova looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Diante Watkins (175-1990, college: RMU, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 11 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). His fellow American import center Jamari Traylor (203-1992, college: Kansas) helped adding 23 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Alonzo Verge Jr (190-1998, college: Nebraska, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international power forward Umit Sonkol (206-1982, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cayirova have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Erokspor. Loser Balikesir BBS dropped to the seventeenth place with five games lost.
