Regular Season Round 7: Khimik-2 - Dinamo 70-73

Fifth-ranked Khimik-2 (2-3) used its home court advantage to challenge leader Dinamo-Bipa (7-0) in Yuzhny on Saturday. The visitors from Odessa managed to secure only three-point victory 73-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Dinamo-Bipa looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Khimik-2's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Danny Lawhorn (183-90, college: Midwestern St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 assists. Point guard Oleksandr Prokopenko (189-92) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Guard Dmytro Holovchyk (187-0) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Vadym Kozak (181-99) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Khimik-2. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dinamo-Bipa have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Dinamo-Bipa maintains first place with 7-0 record, which they share with Niko-Basket. Khimik-2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with three games lost. Dinamo-Bipa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Khimik-2 will play again at home against the league's leader Dinamo-Bipa (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
