Regular Season Round 26: Dnipro-2 - Niko-Basket 74-70

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Niko-Basket (20-4) on the court of seventh ranked Dnipro-2 on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Dnipro-2 74-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Niko-Basket. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-70. Dnipro-2 forced 20 Niko-Basket turnovers. Strangely Niko-Basket outrebounded Dnipro-2 47-34 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Illia Niemtsu (201-98, college: Vincennes Univ.) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Ihor Dubonenko (197-98) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Dnipro-2 players scored in double figures. Dnipro-2's coach Dmytro Markov used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Mykhailo Horobchenko (182-98) responded with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian-Russian center Aleksey Adediran (201-82, college: Binghamton) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Dnipro-2 maintains seventh position with 8-18 record. Niko-Basket at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
