The Regular Season in BSL just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Raiffeisen Flyers Wels on the court of Kapfenberg Bulls on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Kapfenberg Bulls 101-78. Kapfenberg made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian point guard Vitaliy Zotov (188-1997, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. American guard Zaccheus Darko-Kelly (198-1997, college: Providence, MT) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Zach Laput (193-2001, college: Davidson) answered with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for Wels. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kapfenberg Bulls is looking forward to face Eisenstadt on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels will play against Klosterneuburg and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Another exciting game for Eisenstadt which played on the court of Klosterneuburg. Eisenstadt won 80-74. American-Nigerian guard Austen Awosika (190-1998, college: CS Fullerton) stepped up and scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Rashun Williams chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Patrick McMahon (201-2008, college: Montana St.) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Eisenstadt will play against Kapfenberg at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Klosterneuburg will play against Wels to get more than just one victory in their record.
An interesting game was also tough home loss of Kufstein in a game versus undefeated UBSC Graz 96-87. Jamison Guerra nailed 24 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Vegas Evans came up with 20 points for Towers in the defeat. Towers' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. UBSC Graz will meet at home Traiskirchen in the next round. Kufstein will play against St.Poelten and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last two games of round 1 Vienna lost to Traiskirchen on the road 37-122. Gmunden won against Oberwart on its own court 90-88.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by Larry Wise of Oberwart.
