Azerbaijan recorded the first victory at the European Championship for Small Countries. They outgunned Gibraltar for 1-1 record in the classification round. Dina Ulyanova (185-SF-89) was unstoppable with 30 points and 14 rebounds for the winners.
Azerbaijan snatched a 12:6 lead after the first period. Azerbaijan maintained the lead throughout the second frame. They accounted for a 30:22 halftime advantage. The gap grew at 11-point mark before the fourth frame. Azerbaijan went on a 22:14 run in the final period to seal the victory. Tatyana Deniskina (173-SG-85) recorded 19 points, while Binata Rizvanova (170-PG-85) added 8 points in the win. Joelle Moreno (165-G/F-88, college: Cardiff Archers) responded with 30 points for Gibraltar. Alexandra Mauro (165-PG-91) had 6 points in the loss.
