Regular Season Round 16: Sakhalin - Univ.Surgut 64-75

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Sakhalin (11-2) in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Universitet-Yugra (9-5) 75-64. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Sakhalin. 24 personal fouls committed by Sakhalin helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian point guard Pavlo Burenko (187-90) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Aleksandr Lavnikov (205-91, agency: Alti Sport) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Universitet-Yugra players scored in double figures. At the losing side international forward Dmitrii Uzinskiy (200-93) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Alexey Nesterov (204-88) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Universitet-Yugra have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Sakhalin still keeps top position with two games lost. Universitet-Yugra will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sakhalin will play at home against MBA Moscow and is hoping to win this game.
