There was no surprise when 11th ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (5-21) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Cheboksari (16-8) 81-71 on Wednesday. Cheboksari made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Dmitriy Hayrutdinov (206-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and forward Evgeniy Bogdan (200-88) who added 19 points during the contest. Cheboksari's coach Sergei Hudaev used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Oleg Korchev (192-92) responded with 23 points and center Aleksandr Prikazchikov (210-91) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Cheboksari have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Cheboksari maintains fourth position with 16-8 record. Sojuz Zaretchny lost fifteenth consecutive game. Sojuz Zaretchny at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 21 lost games. Cheboksari will meet Tambov (#8) on the road in the next round. Sojuz Zaretchny will play against the league's leader Ruskon-Mordovia and hope to secure a win.
