Bottom-ranked Izhevsk managed to get a third victory, breaking the eight-game losing streak. This time they won against twelfth-ranked Irkut Irkutsk 79-74. Izhevsk dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Irkut Irkutsk's 32. Strangely Irkut Irkutsk outrebounded Izhevsk 45-30 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Aleksey Tsvetkov (207-84) notched 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Andrey Petukhov (207-86) supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds by power forward Aleksandr Zaykin (206-84) did not help to save the game for Irkut Irkutsk. Guard Viktor Kashin (193-94) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Irkut Irkutsk's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Izhevsk maintains thirteenth position with 3-15 record. Irkut Irkutsk at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Izhevsk will play against league's second-placed Novosybirsk at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Irkut Irkutsk will play against Parma (#8) in Perm and hopes to get back on the winning track.
