Regular Season Round 13: Etha - Keravnos 73-93

Very significant was Keravnos' (#2, 9-2) victory against 3rd placed Etha (6-5) 93-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Etha. Keravnos dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Etha's 34. It was a great shooting night for Keravnos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 assists for the winners and American guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch., agency: Athleadz) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Keravnos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Trevis Wyche (185-95, college: St.Peter's) responded with 13 points and 9 assists and the other American import guard Malcolm Brooks (196-92, college: CS Fullerton) scored 23 points. Etha's coach Giorgos Bitzanis rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains second place with 9-2 record behind leader AEK. Etha at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. They share it with Enosis. Keravnos are looking forward to face league's leader AEK in Larnaca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Etha will play on the road against Enosis in Paralimni and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
