Second Stage Round 8: Arsenal - Uralmash 65-82

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tula. Second ranked Uralmash faced 4th ranked Arsenal. Guests from Ekaterinburg (24-8) defeated host Arsenal (13-17) 82-65. Uralmash dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Arsenal's 22. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Point guard Igor Novikov (192-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Anton Voskresenskiy (190-87) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Five Uralmash players scored in double figures. Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Cherepovsky (203-90) replied with 10 points and swingman Alexey Zherdev (196-96, agency: Alti Sport) added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Arsenal. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Uralmash maintains second position with 24-8 record having six points less than leader Dyn-Magn.ChL. Arsenal lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 17 games lost. Uralmash will play against league's leader Burevestnik in Yaroslav in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arsenal will play on the road against Ufimets Ufa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
