The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked AEK (13-3) in Nicosia on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Apoel (10-6) 94-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AEK. At the losing side guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) responded with 27 points (made all of his eight free throws) and point guard Tyreek Duren (183-91, college: La Salle) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Apoel have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-6 record having just three points less than leader AEK. AEK at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Keravnos. Apoel are looking forward to face league's second-placed Keravnos in Strovolos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. AEK will play at home against Apollon and is hoping to win this game.
