There was no surprise in Limassol where 7th ranked Achilleas K. (2-4) was crushed by second ranked AEL (5-1) 94-64 on Friday. The game without a history. AEL led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Brandon Averette (180-1997, college: BYU) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Marios Georgiou (201-1991) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four AEL players scored in double figures. American Lenell Henry (203-1998, college: Alcorn St.) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jarrod Simmons (203-1998, college: Hofstra) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AEL maintains second position with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Apoel, which they share with Keravnos. Loser Achilleas K. dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with APOP. AEL will meet Keravnos (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Achilleas K. will play against APOP (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
