Regular Season Round 9: Keravnos - AEL 103-82

An interesting game for Keravnos (6-1) which hosted in Nicosia their close opponent AEL (6-2). Third ranked Keravnos had an easy win 103-82. AEL was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Keravnos forced 19 AEL turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American-Gambian Ousman Krubally (201-1988, college: Georgia St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American forward Zach Thomas (203-1996, college: Bucknell) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Keravnos players scored in double figures. Keravnos' coach Michalis Kakiouzis felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Tray Buchanan (185-1998, college: Emporia St.) with 22 points and the other American import point guard Brandon Averette (180-1997, college: BYU) scored 20 points. Keravnos have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place. AEL at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Keravnos will play against Apollon (#5) in Limassol in the next round. AEL will play at home against E.N. Paralimni and hopes to get back on the winning track.
