Very expected game in Nicosia where 11th ranked Omonia (1-12) was rolled over by fourth ranked AEL (9-4) 91-70 on Friday. The game without a history. AEL led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Courtney Pigram (185-1985, college: ETSU, agency: Interperformances) scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Tray Buchanan (185-1998, college: Emporia St.) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. American forward Romelo Burrell (201, college: Lindenwood) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Canadian guard Cody John (190-1996, college: Weber St., agency: Helping Ballers) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five AEL and four Omonia players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AEL moved-up to third place, which they share with AEK Larnaca. Loser Omonia stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. AEL will meet at home league's leader Keravnos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Omonia will play against APOP (#9) in Paphou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
