The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Limassol: Apollon (#5) and AEL (#4). Apollon (9-6) smashed visiting AEL (9-5) by 28 points 99-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AEL. The game without a history. Apollon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Apollon outrebounded AEL 45-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Taylor Adway (205-1996, college: Ferris St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and Ghanian-American guard Milan Acquaah (190-1997, college: CBU) who added 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Apollon players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Courtney Pigram (185-1985, college: ETSU, agency: Interperformances) responded with 19 points and his fellow American import point guard Brandon Averette (180-1997, college: BYU) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. AEL's coach Markos Asonitis gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Apollon maintains fifth position with 9-6 record. AEL at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Apollon are looking forward to face APOP (#9) in Paphou in the next round. AEL will play at home against the league's second-placed Apoel (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
