Regular Season Round 21: Omonia - Achilleas K. 80-60

Bottom-ranked Omonia managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses. This time they outleveled eighth-ranked Achilleas K. in Nicosia 80-60. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 20-point difference proves that Omonia was well-prepared to that game. The game was mostly controlled by Omonia. Achilleas K. was better in fourth quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Achilleas K. 48-32 including 35 on the defensive glass. Omonia players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American power forward Jordan Dallas (208-1997, college: Seattle) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Elias Harden (198-1999, college: EWC) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Dallas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Omonia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Georgios Tretiakov (195-2000) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Andreas Chimonas (185-2001, college: Wooster) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Omonia maintains eleventh place with 3-16 record. Achilleas K. lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. Omonia will play against higher ranked Etha (#7) in Nicosia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Achilleas K. will play at home against the league's leader Keravnos where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
