Denmark recorded the first win at the U20 European Championship in Division B. They nipped hosting Austria in Group C action. Mathias Seilund knocked down 17 points to lead the effort. Denmark improved at 1-2 record, while Austria suffered the first loss and slipped at 2-1. The teams stayed close in the opening quarter. Denmark and Austria were tied at 18 ten minutes into the encounter. The Scandinavian team stepped on the gas in the second term. Denmark cleared off to a 7-point advantage at halftime 38:31. Austria tried to bounce back right after the main break. The home side accounted for 20 points in the third term and narrowed the deficit. The low-scoring fourth quarter turned a tough battle. Neither side was able to dominate but Denmark proved stronger. They hung on to escape with the important win at the end. Jonas Bergstedt tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds for Denmark. Jonathan Gilling and Mikael Nielsen provided 10 points each for the winners. Anton Maresch answered with 13 points for Austria. Romed Vieider knocked down 12 points in the loss.
