Very significant was BC Kyiv's (#12) just 2-point home victory against higher ranked BC Odessa 73-71. The winners were led by former international forward Oleg Saltovets (202-77) who had that evening double-double 19 points and 16 rebounds and guard Oleksandr Lypovyy (200-91) who supported him with 20 points. . Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Gary Buchanan (191-80, college: Villanova) did not help to save the game for BC Odessa. BC Odessa's coach Vitali Lebedintsev tried 11 players in such tough game. BC Odessa (8-8) added third loss to their record. That victory allowed BC Kyiv (4-10) to climb to eleventh place. BC Odessa (8-8) on the other side took seventh position. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
