Regular Season Round 9: Academico FC - AD Vagos 38-77

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Academico (3-5) was smashed by fourth ranked AD Vagos (6-2) in Porto 77-38. It was a good game for Nigerian-American guard Chineze Nwagbo (183-82, college: Syracuse) who led her team to a victory with double-double 27 points and 14 rebounds. Brazilian forward Lilian Lopes (184-79) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Silvia Fortunato answered with 7 points and swingman Ana Morais (165-90) added 10 points for Academico. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players and gave the chance to rest for starting five. AD Vagos (6-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion jumped to the third spot. They share that position with Boa Viagem. Academico dropped to the seventh position. They have the same record like GDESSA and Alges. AD Vagos are looking forward to the next round to face league's second-placed Quinta in Carcavelos and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Academico will play on the road against GDESSA (#7) hoping to prove their supporters that it was just an accident.
