Regular Season Round 8: Erdemir - Oyak Renault 78-80

There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Erdemir (2-6) was edged at home by fourteenth ranked Oyak Renault (2-6) 80-78. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Jonathan Gibson (183-88, college: N.Mexico St.) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Oyak Renault players scored in double figures. American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agent: Side Court) responded with 28 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international guard Hakan Demirel (192-85, agent: Murat Yenal) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Erdemir's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in such tough game. The victory allowed Oyak Renault (2-6) to climb to twelfth place. They share it with three other teams including defeated Erdemir. Oyak Renault is looking forward to face higher ranked Karsiyaka (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Erdemir will play against the league's new leader Fener.Ulker (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
