Regular Season Round 20: Azovmash - BC Donetsk 66-78

Rather predictable result in Mariupol where second ranked BC Donetsk (14-4) defeated 5th ranked Azovmash (11-7) 78-66 on Sunday. The game rather controlled by BC Donetsk. Azovmash managed to win . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Donetsk dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Azovmash's 20. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican guard Luis Flores (188-81, college: Manhattan) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and Serbian-Bosnian guard Sasa Vasiljevic (183-79, agent: Misko Raznatovic) who added 10 points and 7 assists during the contest. American forward Chris Owens (204-79, college: Texas, agent: Danny Servick) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) scored 16 points. Despite the victory BC Donetsk stay at second position having just one point less than leader Budivelnyk. Defending champion Azovmash is currently in fourth place with a 11-7 record as they suffered their seventh loss. BC Donetsk will face BC Odessa (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Azovmash will play against Khimik (#13) in Yuzhny.
