There was no surprise in Bursa where 12th ranked Oyak Renault (2-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Karsiyaka (5-4) 80-67 on Saturday. The game rather controlled by Karsiyaka. Oyak Renault managed to win second quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Oyak Renault's 26. Forward Furkan Aldemir (205-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and guard David Holston (170-86, college: Chicago St.) chipped in 4 points and 16 assists. Four Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Jonathan Gibson (183-88, college: N.Mexico St.) scored 21 points. Oyak Renault's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Karsiyaka maintains seventh place with 5-4 record, which they share with Olin Edirne and Bornova. Loser Oyak Renault keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Karsiyaka will meet league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
