Third-ranked Leitershofen (8-4) was defeated by eleventh ranked Oettinger Rockets (4-8) in Gotha 91-79It looked good early as Leitershofen took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Oettinger Rockets Gotha had a 21-10 second quarter charge getting the lead and Leitershofen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-91. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by guard Jason Boucher (180-80, college: Grand Valley St.) who scored that evening 26 points and 4 assists and forward Parnell Smith (198-84, college: Buffalo) who supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds by center Devin Uskoski (198-85, college: Rocky Mountain) did not help to save the game for Leitershofen. Guard Michael Mathey (188-87, college: W.Liberty St.) added 15 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory allowed Oettinger Rockets Gotha (4-8) who are in their first season in the ProB to climb to the eighth place in group South. They share it with Schwenningen. Leitershofen who is 8-4 went down to fourth position as they suffered their fourth loss. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play against Giessen Pointers (#10) on the road in the next round. Leitershofen will play against BV Villingen-Schwenningen (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
