Regular Season Round 9: Basaksehir - Akhisar Bld 72-69

Quite upsetting was Akhisar Bld's (#7) road defeat in a game versus eighth ranked Basaksehir who edged guests 72-69. Basaksehir took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Akhisar Bld won fourth quarter 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Akhisar Bld outrebounded Basaksehir 53-41 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Tyrus Boswell (202-78, college: Ky Wesleyan) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Ahmet Yilmaz (196-83) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Tyrone Nelson (206-85, college: N.Mexico St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 24 rebounds and guard Guven Esmer (193-80) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The victory allowed Basaksehir (4-5) who are in their first season in the TB2L to climb to the seventh place in group B. They share it with defeated Akhisar Bld. Basaksehir will meet higher ranked Hacettepe Univ. (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akhisar Bld will play against Selcuk Universitesi in Konya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
