Very predictable result in Vilnius where second ranked Meresta (16-5) defeated 9th ranked Perlas-MRU (8-13) 84-76 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Perlas-MRU won fourth quarter 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perlas-MRU was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Simonas Slivka (194-86) scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Tomas Balciunas (186-79) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Gabrielius Ramonas (196-88) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Laurynas Jacevicius (193-88) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Meresta has a solid three-game winning streak. Despite the victory they stay at second position having just four points less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes. Perlas-MRU lost fifth consecutive game. The team is currently in ninth place with a 8-13 record. Meresta will face Akademija (#14) in Vilnius in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Perlas-MRU will play on the road against Puntukas (#12) in Anyksciai.
