No shocking result in a game when second ranked Galatasaray (8-2) beat 9th ranked Bornova (5-5) in Istanbul 84-72. Galatasaray were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The former international center Ermal Kurtoglu (208-80, agency: Beo Basket) fired 19 points for the winners. American swingman Joshua Shipp (196-86, college: UCLA) chipped in 16 points. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Oktay Mahmudi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Umit Sonkol (206-82) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American guard Michael Roll (196-87, college: UCLA) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Galatasaray have an impressive five-game winning streak. They did not change their second position in the standings. Bornova dropped to the eighth place. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Oyak Renault (#15) in Bursa which should be an easy win for them. Bornova will play at home against Efes Pilsen (#5) in Istanbul.
