Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Leipzig Eagles and 10th ranked Herner TC had identical 3-9 record. This time Leipzig Eagles used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Herne 68-63 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Herner TC won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leipzig Eagles made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Leipzig Eagles outrebounded Herner TC 38-17 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Lacey Haughian (188-86, college: Black Hills St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) for the winning side and her fellow American import guard Angela Pace (178-87, college: Robert Morris) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Leipzig Eagles players scored in double figures. Bosnian forward Lejla Bejtic (174-85) came up with 16 points and 4 steals and Serbian power forward Minja Terzic (188-79) added 16 points respectively for Herner TC in the defeat. Leipzig Eagles (4-9) jumped to the eighth spot. They share the position with Rhein MB. Herner TC lost their fourth straight game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh place with 3-10 record. They have the same record like Oberhausen. Leipzig Eagles will meet Rhein Main Baskets (#9) in the next round. Herner TC will play against TV Saarlouis Royals and hope to secure a win.
