There was no surprise when 12th ranked SSV Lok Bernau (2-12) was edged at home by tenth ranked Bayer Giants (5-9) 78-76 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Josh Young (188, college: Ferris St.) who scored 26 points. Center Justin Eller (203-87, college: Sacramento St.) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Calvin Brock (196-86, college: Illinois) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Dreshawn Vance (203-85, college: Cal Poly - SLO, agency: Rasmussen Services) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four SSV Lok Bernau players scored in double figures. Bayer Giants moved-up to ninth place in Group North. SSV Lok Bernau lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Bayer Giants will face higher ranked BSV Wulfen (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SSV Lok Bernau will play against Spot Up Medien Baskets (#10) in Braunschweig and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
