Regular Season Round 9: Beroe - Rilski 2 80-76

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Beroe (7-2) beat 8th ranked Rilski 2 (3-5) in Stara Zagora 80-76. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-17. But Rilski 2 won second period 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Beroe dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Rilski 2's 18. Beroe forced 20 Rilski 2 turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Petar Zagorov (202-86) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Boiko Milenkov (194-83) chipped in 24 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Darin Ivanov (181-91) who recorded 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Lubomir Kirov (195-89) added 24 points and 6 assists respectively. Four Rilski 2 players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Beroe. They jumped to the second spot. Rilski 2 lost their third straight game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position. Beroe's next round opponent will be Vidabasket (#7) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Rilski 2 will play against Chavdar in Troyan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
