The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Ferro-ZNTU's (11-12) road loss to sixth ranked Dnipro (12-10) 81-89. The hosts were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 28-21 last quarter charge of Ferro-ZNTU cut the lead to 89-81 at the end of the game. Dnipro made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Ferro-ZNTU turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Mario Austin (206-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Strategic Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Steve Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) accounted for 28 points and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side. Dnipro's coach Denys Zhuravlov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) came up with 22 points and 9 rebounds and guard Keddric Mays (183-84, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Ferro-ZNTU in the defeat. Dnipro maintains sixth place with 12-10 record. Ferro-ZNTU at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with BC Odessa. Dnipro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ferro-ZNTU will play at home against Mykolaiv (#7) in Mykolaiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
