The game in Bornova supposed to be quite interesting. Fifth ranked Efes Pilsen (8-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Bornova (5-6). Efes Pilsen smashed Bornova 95-64. The game without a history. Efes Pilsen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Efes Pilsen outrebounded Bornova 31-18 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian guard Igor Rakocevic (191-78) who led the winners and scored 20 points. American power forward Lawrence Roberts (205-82, college: Mississippi St.) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Efes Pilsen players scored in double figures. Lithuanian power forward Tomas Nagys (209-80, college: Clemson) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Michael Roll (196-87, college: UCLA) added 11 points respectively for Bornova in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Efes Pilsen moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Antalya. Bornova at the other side dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Efes Pilsen will play against Oyak Renault (#15) in Bursa in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Bornova will play on the road against Mersin (#16) in Akdeniz and hopes to get back on the winning track.
