Regular Season Round 11: Aliaga - Mersin 80-71

Everything went according to plan when eleventh ranked Aliaga (4-7) beat at home bottom-ranked Mersin (1-10) 80-71. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Jerome Randle (178-87, college: California) who led the winners and scored 31 points. His fellow American import guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky, agency: SportsTalent) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds and the former international guard Hakan Koseoglu (188-81) added 16 points respectively for Mersin in the defeat. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aliaga moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Turk Telekom. Mersin lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Aliaga will play against Turk Telekom (#11) in Ankara in the next round. Mersin will play at home against Bornova (#9) to get more than just one victory in their record.
