Regular Season Round 24: BC Odessa - Dnipro 81-101

There was no surprise when 9th ranked BC Odessa (11-13) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Dnipro (13-11) 101-81. The game was mostly controlled by Dnipro. BC Odessa managed to win third quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dnipro dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to BC Odessa's 40. It was a great shooting night for Dnipro especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. The winners were led by guard Steve Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) who scored that evening 38 points (!!!) and power forward Mario Austin (206-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Strategic Sports) supported him with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Dnipro's coach Denys Zhuravlov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by forward John DeGroat (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) did not help to save the game for BC Odessa. Guard Gary Buchanan (191-80, college: Villanova) added 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dnipro has a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 13-11 record. BC Odessa lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
