Regular Season Round 24: Khimik - Dnipro 89-73
Date: December 28, 2010
Bottom-ranked Khimik managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they won against sixth-ranked Dnipro in Yuzhny 89-73. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference proves that Khimik was well-prepared to that game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Dnipro. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. Dnipro managed to win third quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Dnipro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American guard Curtis Millage (185-81, college: Arizona St.) who scored that evening 31 points and 5 assists and international swingman Alexander Kolchenko (198-88) supported him with 17 points. Even 20 points and 6 assists by American guard Steve Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) did not help to save the game for Dnipro. Canadian forward Denham Brown (198-83, college: Connecticut, agency: Edge Sports) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Dnipro players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Khimik (5-16) moved-up to twelfth place. Dnipro at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Khimik's next round opponent will be league's second-placed BC Donetsk at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
