The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventeenth ranked BBC Bayreuth's (4-12) home victory over bottom-ranked Gloria Giants (2-13) 88-68 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by BBC Bayreuth. Gloria Giants managed to win third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Danny Gibson (180-84, college: S.Indiana, agency: Limelight Hoops) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 assists and the other American import swingman Marcus Ginyard (196-87, college: N.Carolina) who added 17 points during the contest. Four BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. BBC Bayreuth's coach Andreas Wagner used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian forward Ransford Brempong (203-81, college: W.Carolina) scored 17 points. Newly promoted BBC Bayreuth maintains seventeenth position with 4-12 record. Gloria Giants lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. BBC Bayreuth will meet at home league's leader Brose Baskets in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gloria Giants will play against EWE Baskets (#5) in Oldenburg and hope to secure a win.
